it's a colder evening, but still lovely out. i'm getting over my cold (hurray) and i'm not swamped with work (hooray). let's get our media on:
Jose Gonzalez
i can't remember the first time i heard jose gonzalez, but i know that that was a good day. i know there was this huge blog hype over him a few years ago, and it's seemed to die off, but no lies, this guy is just amazing. 'veneer' his debut lp is an amazing collection of nylon strings, potent lyrics and that voice...my word that voice. it's distinct, and you may need to get used to it, but when you do, it will be like sitting by a warm fireplace, blankets wrapping you up. 'crosses' is one of the best tracks off 'veneer', and it holds a really special place in my heart (lame?). i also posted his cover of the joy division classic, 'love will tear us apart', which is off his australian tour ep. go buy 'veneer', don't front!

jose gonzales is straight up boring. he can play the guitar well and his fingers move remarkably fast, but his best songs are cover songs and everything he does sounds the same. he played at richards and I literally fell asleep on the table. literally.
my opinion - NO WAY JOSE.
